NOWAR Baton - Police Baton, short
Nowadays batons (also called night stick) are mainly used by Police. They use batons – predominately made of hard rubber – during crowd control situations, deployments and street battles for defence of territory (mostly by special trained forces, such as operation unit in Austria) or as weapon for safeguarding of officials during arresting criminals. In case of demonstrations or forced marches often water guns, tear gas or rubber cartridges are used in addition to batons. However, the baton can be also used for opening or battering doors and windows, e.g. in order to rescue injured persons or to bully one’s way into a locality.
