UTAG® - The "digital dogtag"
UTAG
is the PC compatible USB device that stores vital personal information for use
in an emergency. Developed by SAS soldiers to carry easily accessed important
personal details in the event of an emergency, it is designed to be the first
point of reference for the emergency services and first aiders.
UTAG
is also useful when travelling abroad when you need to communicate essential
medical information in a different language even when you can speak for
yourself. Your key medical information (including list of allergies and
medication) can be viewed in any of 7 languages.
Information
stored includes: Personal details, photo, doctor contact details, emergency
contacts, medical conditions, current medication, allergies, blood type, donor
information, any other details you wish to be made known.
The thinking behind UTAG®?
The
creator of UTAG® wanted a product that could easily be seen
and identified as containing emergency information and could
be worn in a visible place. It needed to carry all the information
he felt was necessary to help in an emergency
situation. It had to give him the best
possible chance of communicating with
the emergency services, letting them
know who to contact on his behalf and
pass on any medical information he
wanted to make available.
What is UTAG®?
UTAG® utilises the latest USB technology to give electronic data storage, in a style that mimics a traditional dogtag. Clearly displayed on it are the international medical symbol (the snake and staff) and the letters “ICE” which the emergency services are using to denote “In Case of Emergency”.
The unique software has been developed to be easy to use and can include emergency phone contacts, photo ID, GP information and medical information (all fields are optional).
The
lightweight aluminium dogtag design gives it a stylish edge and
it comes with an additional blank dogtag to personalise.
Private Folder
If you are constantly on the move, it is a good idea to carry copies of vital documents such as passport, driving licence, travel documents, health insurance membership etc. with you. ‘The ‘Private Folder’ gives you the opportunity to save copies of these documents (and any other document / spreadsheet you require) into a folder on your UTAG®. As you save the document, it will ask for a password and UTAG® will then encrypt the document so that it can only be accessed by using the password. This gives you the peace of mind that you have copies of everything you need with you in a secure form that only you can access. Once the document is open it can be displayed or printed. If you no longer require it, it can simply be deleted.
The software has been designed so that it can be displayed in any of 7 European languages.
